Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to join our school. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive music education program that engages students. The Music Teacher will inspire a love for music, foster creativity, and contribute to the overall development of our students.

Responsibilities Curriculum/Instructional Planning and Implementation
  • Develop and implement age‑appropriate lesson plans in accordance with the district's curriculum and educational standards.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and engage students in the learning process and modify instructional methods to fit individual students' needs.
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Coordinate with other professional staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
Classroom Management
  • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and cooperation among students.
  • Implement effective behavior management strategies to create a conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Ensure that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies and establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Assessment and Feedback
  • Regularly assess student progress using a variety of assessment tools and provide constructive feedback to both students and parents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to analyze student performance data and tailor instructional approaches accordingly.
  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Parent Communication
  • Foster open and effective communication with parents through regular updates, parent‑teacher conferences, and other communication channels.
  • Work collaboratively with parents to support students' academic and social development.
Professional Development
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends, teaching methodologies, and curriculum advancements. This includes attending workshops, seminars, and professional meetings such as faculty and department/grade‑level meetings.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to share best practices and enhance the overall learning experience for students.
Other
  • Organize and direct student performances, including concerts, recitals, and school assemblies.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and NYS Certification in Music Education Grades K-12.
  • Strong knowledge of elementary curriculum, instructional strategies, and educational trends.

  • Patience, flexibility, and genuine passion for working with children.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
