Overview
Portland Community College (PCC) invites applications for Part‑Time Faculty assignments in Chinese. This is a part‑time faculty interest pool; the department will identify candidates based on course assignment needs throughout the academic year and may consider applicants for substitute or full‑term class assignments.
Eligibility & Application Restrictions- PCC currently limits employment to individuals who reside in Oregon or Washington. Employment offers are contingent upon the ability to establish residence in one of those states.

- Preferred:
Masters of Arts in Chinese or a related linguistic field with a minimum of 30 graduate credit hours in the language, linguistics, literature, and culture. - Alternative:
Master of Arts in a related field, accompanied by 30 graduate credit hours in Chinese, or an M.A. in Chinese with a Master of Arts in another field with 30 graduate credit hours in China. - Native or near‑native fluency in Chinese (to be assessed through a proficiency interview).
- One year of prior college teaching experience in a related subject.
- Teaching ability demonstrated by a vitae and supporting materials.
- Completion of a 3‑credit graduate‑level course on college‑level second language teaching methods or a comparable course; if not completed, the course must be finished during the first term of employment.
Part‑time faculty will lecture, lead discussions, and/or chair labs in Chinese courses as assigned. Responsibilities may include preparing syllabi, delivering instruction, grading, advising students, and participating in departmental meetings. Faculty will be expected to uphold PCC’s standards for academic integrity and student support.
