Make Lunchtime and Recess Awesome! (age 21+) Referral
Help create a safe, positive, and engaging environment as you support students during lunch and recess.
About the ProgramAt Faubion School, our mission is to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We strive to foster equity, community, and a sense of belonging for every child and family.
Volunteers in our Lunch & Recess program help bring this mission to life by providing additional support and supervision during students’ midday breaks. Their presence ensures students can eat, play, and interact safely while practicing social skills and building confidence. By helping maintain a positive, structured environment, volunteers directly contribute to the well-being and growth of our students, supporting both their academic success and their emotional development.
Aboutthe Project
Be a Lunch & Recess Hero! 🍎⚽
Have you ever wanted to make a student’s school day brighter while keeping them safe and having fun? Here’s your chance! Our students at Faubion love their time in the cafeteria and on the playground, and having extra adults there makes a world of difference.
As a Lunch & Recess Volunteer, you’ll support students during their lunch period and outdoor playtime. Volunteers help create a safe, positive, and engaging environment where kids can enjoy their meals, connect with friends, and get some much-needed physical activity. You don’t need any special experience—just energy, patience, and a friendly smile!
Be prepared to be outside rain or shine, as recess happens in all weather conditions. Bring a positive attitude, patience, and energy to engage with students and support their play and lunch routines.
Volunteers will gain hands-on experience working with children, learning strategies for supporting social-emotional development, encouraging positive behavior, and fostering a safe, inclusive environment. They’ll also gain insight into how schools manage lunchroom routines, recess supervision, and student engagement, as well as the day-to-day needs of students and families in our community.
This opportunity is perfect for anyone interested in education, youth development, or community support, and volunteers will leave with a deeper understanding of how meaningful adult involvement positively impacts students’ growth and confidence.
- Dress code: Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes suitable for being active outdoors.
