Overview
Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking candidates for part‑time faculty assignments in German. Applicants will be sorted into an interest pool from which the department will select candidates for substitute or full‑time courses as needs arise during the academic year.
ResponsibilitiesThe selected faculty member may be needed for substitute teaching responsibilities and/or full‑term class assignments in the German program.
Qualifications- Preferred:
Master of Arts in German. - MAT in German is considered if accompanied by at least 30 graduate credit hours in German, linguistics, literature, and culture.
- Master of Arts in a related field with a minimum of 30 graduate credit hours in German is also acceptable.
- Native or near‑native proficiency (to be assessed via a proficiency interview).
- Minimum of one year of prior college‑level teaching experience in a related subject.
- Evidence of teaching ability through a curriculum vitae and supporting materials.
- Completion of a 3‑credit graduate‑level course on college‑level second‑language teaching methods or methodology for German (or required to complete such a course within the first term of employment).
Part‑time faculty are eligible for certain PCC benefits, including Oregon Sick Leave and a retirement savings plan. Hourly rates are determined based on course type (lecture, lab, lecture/lab) and follow the PCC Part‑time Faculty Salary Schedule.
