Position: Instr - Facilities Maintenance Technology (1 year temporary)

Job Overview

Join our team at Portland Community College as a full‑time, one‑year temporary faculty member in the Facilities Maintenance Technology (FMT) program. The position begins September1 and primarily involves teaching FMT
101,FMT
102,FMT
111,FMT
113 and APR
162 during the Fall, Winter and Spring terms. Instruction may be required in day and evening time slots.

Responsibilities
  • Teach the designated FMT and APR courses for the 2026‑2027 academic year.
  • Develop and deliver course content, assessments and grading according to program standards.
  • Support students from diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain a culture of safety and adhere to institutional policies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to enhance program quality.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least five (5) years of experience in the HVAC or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach technical content to individuals with varied skill levels.
  • Experience as a trainer, mentor or teacher in a technical setting.
  • Knowledge of HVAC industry inequities and strategies to reach underrepresented groups.
  • Academic credentials from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or equivalent qualifications abroad evaluated by a recognized agency.

  • Ability to convey HVAC concepts in an inclusive manner, respecting cultural, ethnic, gender, linguistic and socioeconomic diversity.
  • Strong collaborative skills and a commitment to building internal and external relationships.
