Responsibilities

Duties: This is a very different kind of SPED role. They will not be working much with the students but rather training the caregivers/parents on interventions.

  • Staff will discuss and provide instructional strategies to be implemented throughout the week, in between visits. Focus and coaching is on the caregivers because they have more influence on the child than we can in our weekly visits.
  • Suggestions are made to enhance what caregivers are already doing – the focus is on collaborative problem‑solving, not an “expert model” approach.
  • In preschools/child cares: staff will help embed specialized instruction which is layered on top of universal supports (classroom routines, transition, classroom environment) and activities/lesson plans to meet the individual needs of students in the classroom.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
  • Valid state teaching certificate or early childhood education as required by state regulations and/or contract
