The organic chemistry workshop leader will report to the instructor of the course. The assigned classroom for the course will be a shared academic classroom. The approximate hours will be 2.5 per week. The course instructor will inform the workshop leader of performance deficiencies (if any) and where they are performing well on an on-going basis. A workshop leader who is not performing to the communicated expectations may be dismissed and replaced with another qualified applicant any time during the semester for which they are hired.

Workshop section: CHM 026 from 05:40 PM – 07:05 PM on Thursdays

Core Duties
  • The workshop leader must be available during the scheduled period for the workshop.
  • The workshop leader is expected to be ready for what the students will be doing during each period.
  • A weekly meeting with the instructor may also be required.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • The workshop leader must have taken and been successful (B or higher) in the course that the person wants to be the workshop leader for.
  • The workshop leader must be able to help the students with the material and facilitate discussion, but must not tell students everything they need to do or do the work for them.
  • The workshop assistant should know the concepts covered in the course and how to help others master the material.
  • The workshop assistant is expected to communicate regularly with the course instructor regarding the student’s progress in the class.
  • The workshop leader should have good people skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous workshop leader experience.
