Job Summary

This is a Community Service Work Study student employment position. Applicants must have Federal Work Study funds in their Financial Aid package.

The Robotics Assistant Coach's primary objective is ensuring positive student engagement while fostering a curiosity and passion for robotics with our students.

About De La Salle: "We are a small, Catholic private school in the Cully neighborhood of NE Portland. Our students are over 90% people of color, and over 70% of our families qualify for free or reduced lunch. Availability:
Meet three times a week, Monday-Friday, 3:30-5:00 pm

Reports on site to the Robotics Team Coach and on campus to the Program Manager for Community Partnerships.

Note:

Student may not earn more than $2,000 total in this position, which equates to 118 hours worked between Fall and Spring semester.

Core Duties

* Assist Robotics Head Coach with after-school program, including set up, clean up, facilitating club meetings, and supporting students.

* Mentor and encourage student exploration and growth.

* Assist with setup for a presentation/demonstration for students to showcase at "STEAM Night" in April.

* Periodically meet with Robotics Head Coach and STEAM Program Director to discuss program.

* May assist students with mechanical setup and coding for the robot if able.

* Other relevant duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

* Must have Federal Work Study fund in Financial Aid Package (contact finaid with questions)

* Currently enrolled in college

* Likes working with younger people

* Available for after school meetings at least twice per week

* Have a growth mindset (be ready to learn)

Preferred Qualifications

* Some experience with coding, robotics, or general engineering.

Physical Requirements

* Minor lifting and tool use.
