Senior Admissions Counselor

UWS Senior Admissions Counselor supports prospective students through all stages of the recruitment and application processes to help students apply to programs and matriculate for the University to meet its enrollment goals. The Senior Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruitment communications directed toward prospective students. This position is also responsible for assisting prospective students in the decision-making process relative to the academic, schedule, time, motivation, and cost benefits of attending UWS.

The Senior Admissions Counselor is involved with staff, faculty, administrators, and students and plays an active role in the campus community and events. The position is the lead admissions counselor responsible for mentorship of the other admissions counselors, which may include training and coaching opportunities, and may assume manager responsibilities in the absence of direct supervisor.

This position is hybrid and on-campus 2-3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment:
Student-Focus (60%)

  • Advise prospective students on admissions requirements and application processes for all programs offered at UWS.
  • Work with Global Engagement to advise international on campus students of admissions
  • Clearly articulate the mission and value of the university to prospective students.
  • Provides superior customer service to students through the entire admission process.
  • Respond to all new inquiries quickly and maintain consistent communication with all students throughout the admission process.
  • Complete a high level of outbound calls per day to reach prospective students in a timely manner.
  • Conduct telephone-based, virtual, and in person consultations to qualify prospective students on their educational goals and interests, to explain available academic programs, to advise them on admission requirements, and to ensure that all admission paperwork is completed properly. Provides more in-depth counseling for undecided students.
  • Coordinate with the director of admissions to develop and enhance engagement strategies with prospective students and applicants.
  • Lead the virtual webinars and information sessions for prospective students.
  • Complete advisor review of applications and pre-evaluation of transcripts.
  • Serve as back-up lead for admissions decision processing and interview scheduling
  • Supports international students of specialized groups through the processing of immigration documents and requests through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) platform.
  • Serves as office's primary Designated School Official (DSO) with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for international students
  • Collaborates with Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) to transfer, enter, sign, and issue various I-20 forms.
  • Participate in recruitment events.
  • Travel may be required for recruiting events at peak times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Lead Management and CRM/Systems Update (15%)

  • Effectively maintains Salesforce database through inquiry management, proper documentation, logging of calls and activities, and purposeful engagement strategy.

Leadership (15%)

  • Serve as the lead admissions counselor and mentor to the admissions counselor team. Mentorship may include leading group or individual meetings with admissions counselors or subcommittees as assigned by the Senior Director of Admissions (i.e. recruitment, campus visits, events).
    * Note that ultimate supervisory authority and responsibilities rests with the Senior Director of Admissions.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Admissions to provide ongoing training and coaching to the other admissions counselors.
  • Serve as the liaison to the Global Engagement team to ensure an efficient process for prospective international students.

Professionalism, Teamwork and Relationship-Building (10%)

  • Serve as the lead member of the Admissions team to recruit and enroll qualified and motivated students to UWS academic programs.
