Position: Coach-Mentor (Portland-Metro)

Active Children Portland is offering Part-Time Coach-Mentor positions for after-school programs in the Portland Metro Area at various Elementary and Middle School sites.

Part-time, beginning immediately

Pay
:
Starting at $25; mileage reimbursement

Start: September 13th (Mandatory Training; In-Person)

Seasons:

  • Fall:
    September 21 - November 20th
  • Winter:
    January 12 - March 19
  • Spring:
    April 5 - June 11
  • Extra Days and Hours may be available

Responsibilities:

  • 4 sessions per week, Monday-Thursday; between 2:30 PM - 6 PM (Specific schedule available during interview; may be 2 days per week at some sites)
  • Reports to:

    Director of Operations and SUN Site Director
  • Pay:
    Starting $25/hour; returning Coach-Mentor bonuses available
  • Coach-Mentors work with an Active Children Portland team of up to 15 students between grades K-8
  • Implement ACP Movement and Academic Enrichment Curriculum
  • Academic Enrichment lessons highlighting these specific areas:
    Physical Activity and Wellness, Mentorship, Family/Community Engagement, Creative Writing, STEM, and Service Learning
  • Support SUN school site as a full instructor, helping with students throughout the afternoon program

Qualifications:

  • Must go through a background check & fingerprinting upon acceptance
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Athletic coaching experience is a plus but is not required; if you enjoy working with children and have some familiarity with any sports, you are a great candidate
  • Any relevant experience or education involving youth, trauma-informed care, or public health is highly valued
  • Passion and willingness to make a positive impact in our next generation.
  • A high level of integrity, dependability, and enthusiasm
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without Visa sponsorship
