Job DescriptionSt. Ignatius Catholic School, a Jesuit Catholic learning community, seeks a faith-filled, collaborative, caring educator to serve as a part-time catechesis teacher for students in grades 4-8 and middle school technology teacher for students in 7th and 8th grade for the school year. St. Ignatius School has been educating students with a strong Jesuit influence for since 1908 fostering eager minds, passionate hearts, and enthusiastic spirits for all students.
We promote educating the whole child in partnership with families. The ideal candidate will nurture students' faith lives while helping them become thoughtful, ethical, and creative users of technology. The successful candidate will be committed to academic excellence, spiritual formation, and building strong relationships with students and families.
- A practicing Catholic supporting mission-passionate education
- A current teaching license and/or theology certification
- Strong knowledge of Roman Catholic theology and Catholic teaching
- Ability to meet all employment requirements established by the Archdiocese of Portland, including successful completion of background check, fingerprinting, and C.A.S.E./Create a Safe Environment child protection training
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Experience integrating technology, creativity, and responsible digital learning practices
- Support the mission of the Roman Catholic Church, the Archdiocese of Portland, and the Jesuit Catholic identity of the school in word and action
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging catechesis instruction to students in grades 4-8 and technology instruction for students in 7th and 8th grade using research-based direct instructional practices
- Ensure that catechetical curriculum adhere to the religion standards of the Archdiocese of Portland
- Assess student learning regularly using formative and summative methods and adjust instruction based on student needs
- Guide students in developing responsible and ethical technology skills
- Communicate with families regarding student progress by updating grades weekly
- Adhere to school procedures, faculty handbook expectations, archdiocesan policies, and emergency protocols
- Collaborate with faculty and school leadership on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and student well-being
- Participate in faculty meetings, retreats, school liturgies, service activities, professional development, faith formation, and other school events
- Support the faith life and mission of the school
