CASAS and GED Testing – The casual Testing Assistant is an important part of the Corrections Education team, providing CASAS and GED test proctoring for adults in custody (AIC) who participate in the education program at Columbia River Correctional (near the Portland airport). Proctoring experience is preferred, but specific training is provided. The Testing Assistant provides front‑line services to current students and assists them by providing the necessary materials and parameters in which to complete their test.
WhatYou’ll Do and Who We Are Looking For Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides CASAS and GED testing for Adults in Custody (AIC) at Columbia River Correctional Institution.
- Provides approved accommodations for students who need additional resources for testing according to the Oregon Department of Corrections Special Education team.
- Proctors make‑up testing for students who were unable to take the test at the original scheduled time.
- Maintains records following established guidelines and procedures.
- Escalates issues to Testing Lead, Education Coordinator, or Education Director as appropriate.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in the corrections classroom setting, where staff and AIC safety and security is the highest priority. Deadlines and interruptions of workflow are expected and occur on a regular basis.
QualificationsHigh school education or equivalent. One year of post‑secondary coursework in a relevant field and one year of experience working in an administrative or other similar environment is required. Experience performing the duties of the job may substitute for the post‑secondary education requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.

- Follow protocols and escalation procedures.
