We are accepting applications to be considered for Part‑Time Faculty assignments in the Medical Laboratory Technology Department at the Cascade Campus. This is a Part‑Time Faculty Interest Pool; applications will be reviewed as new teaching needs arise for substitute or full‑term class assignments.
Instructor QualificationsA copy of your ASCP certification (or proof of certification) and an unofficial transcript will be required as part of the application process. Please upload both documents in the attachments section of your application.
- Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a Bachelor’s degree in a related science discipline, AND
- MLT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) certification or equivalent, AND
- Two (2) years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting performing testing or in a post‑secondary education program
- A master’s or doctoral degree, AND
- ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist, AND
- Knowledge of education methods, administration, NAACLS accreditation procedures, and certification procedures, AND
- Three (3) years of teaching experience
- Teach Medical Laboratory Technology courses, including lecture, lab, or lecture/lab formats.
- Perform substitute and full‑term class assignments as needed.
- Prepare and deliver instructional materials and assessments in alignment with the curriculum.
- Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
- Maintain up‑to‑date certifications and comply with institutional policies.
- Hourly rates based on course type (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab) as set by the current salary schedule.
- Eligibility for Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans.

- Payment begins at Step 1 of the current salary schedule for new part‑time faculty.
- Portland Community College complies with the Oregon Veterans' Preference in Public Employment law. Veterans and disabled veterans may provide DD214 and, if needed, a letter from the Department of VA during the application process.
