Chance Light Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support students in our Education, Training & E-Learning department. In this role, you'll assist teachers with classroom instruction, behavior support, and implementation of individualized education plans. You'll help create a safe, engaging learning environment, collect student data, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities

  • Support classroom instruction by reinforcing lessons and activities designed by teachers and specialists
  • Work with students individually and in small groups to practice academic, social, and behavioral skills
  • Follow and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans under supervision
  • Assist with classroom management and the use of positive behavior support strategies
  • Prepare, organize, and distribute instructional materials and learning resources
  • Support the integration and use of educational technology and e-learning tools during instruction
  • Monitor, record, and report student performance, engagement, and behavior data to the instructional team
  • Assist students with transitions, routines, and, when needed, activities of daily living to ensure full access to learning
  • Help maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Participate in required training, professional development, and team meetings to support continuous improvement of services

Required Skills

  • Classroom support and instructional assistance
  • Basic knowledge of child and adolescent development
  • Understanding of, or interest in, special education practices and IEP implementation
  • Behavior management and positive behavior support techniques
  • Data collection and documentation of academic and behavioral progress
  • Use of educational technology and e-learning platforms
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary education and clinical teams
  • Time management and organizational skills in a classroom setting
  • Crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques (with training)
