Academic Tutor

Onsight Education is a Portland-based agency that matches families with independent tutors and music instructors for one-on-one sessions, either in person across the Portland metro or online. We find the students and handle scheduling and billing, so tutors can focus on teaching.

• Math, from elementary school through calculus and statistics
• Science: biology, chemistry, physics
• English and writing
• SAT/ACT prep
• Organizational and ADHD coaching

• This is independent contract work. You set your availability and choose which assignments you take.
• You can teach in person in the Portland metro, online, or both.
• Pay per session hour depends on subject and experience. Rates are agreed for each assignment.
• You're paid twice a month.

• A strong command of the subjects you'd teach, such as a degree in the field or equivalent depth
• Prior tutoring or teaching experience, ideally with middle and high school students
• Patience and the ability to explain things clearly to students and to their parents
• A short subject assessment and teaching demonstration
• Two references from prior teaching or tutoring work
• A background check, including a fingerprint-based check through the State of Oregon. Everyone completes this, even if you've been fingerprinted for another job.
