Chapel Choir Cantor and Music Assistant

The Chapel Choir Cantor and Music Assistant is responsible for leading the assembly in singing hymns during Masses and other university liturgies and services, both in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher and across campus in other spaces. They also work closely with the Assistant Director of Liturgical Music in weekly office tasks as assigned.

• The Chapel Choir Cantor and Music Assistant sings at both or either of the 10:30 AM and 4:15 PM Sunday Masses during the academic year, leading the assembly and choir in song.
• The Cantor is responsible for learning the music for Masses on a weekly basis, scheduling time for rehearsal with the Assistant Director of Liturgical Music, the accompanists, and other members of the choir.
• The Chapel Choir Cantor and Music Assistant supports the Music Office by assembling binders and other musical resources during the week to aid the preparation of rehearsals and liturgies.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to read music.
• Must be able to learn music and hymns on a rapid basis.
• Must demonstrate strong organizational skills.
• Must be a self-starter.
• Must have a familiarity with, desire to learn, and reverence for the Roman Catholic Mass.

• 1 year of cantor experience either in school or parish settings.
