PDX Maintenance Electrician (Graveyard Shift)

From ground power units to airfield lighting, the PDX Maintenance Electricians keep the lights on  successful candidate will maintain the electrical supply throughout the airport by replacing and repairing when needed. This includes maintaining the lighting on the airfields!

Hours are set by seniority shift bid per the labor agreement. Shifts may include one weekend day; the successful candidate must be available to work a set day, swing, or graveyard shift. Most likely, the successful candidate will work a graveyard shift:
Wednesday - Saturday. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

• Maintain electrical supply throughout the airport systems including pump stations, airfield lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, access controls, UPS, and generators.
• Conduct maintenance of electrical distribution systems ranging in voltages up to 15kV.
• Troubleshoot electrical and electronic controls, including relay logic and PLC programming.
• Respond to equipment malfunction.

• Four (4) years knowledge of PLC‑based control systems.
• Or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
• Electronic schooling in controllers, data‑gathering, and/or solid‑state controls (preferred).

• Oregon State General Journeyman license at time of hire.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain a Security Badge at PDX or other Port facilities with certain designations.
• Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required at time of hire or within the probationary period.
• * All CDL training costs and licensing fees will be paid for by the Port of Portland.

• Read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Comfortable working among the traveling public and Airport tenants.
• Willing and able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

• A minimum qualification evaluation of education, training, and experience of submitted application packets will take place by Human Resources the week of March 9th, 2026.
• A Subject Matter Expert (SME) panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials.
• Our goal is to schedule virtual first‑round interviews with candidates who successfully passed the SME evaluation by the week of March 16th. Panel interviews will be held Thursday, March 26th, 2026.
