Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a Facilities Plant Engineer - Civil/Structural (Level 3 or
4) to support the Facilities Maintenance team onsite in Portland, Oregon.
- Provide structural engineering support for the manufacturing operations, including new construction projects, existing building modifications, bridge cranes support structures, and machine foundations.
- Develop moderately complex conceptual designs, final designs, cost estimates and provide maintenance support for the civil/structural phases of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and grounds.
- Review civil/structural designs to assess compliance with customer requirements, building codes and applicable regulations by applying knowledge of construction principles, practices, and materials.
- Communicate problems and issues to others for resolution.
- Integrate the activities of multiple engineering disciplines, outside consultants and government agencies.
- Ensure accuracy of drawing archives/libraries by reviewing contractor redlines.
- Identify errors and document construction changes to comply with regulatory requirements, facility standards, and record retention requirements.
- Manage or support construction projects by providing input on vendor selection; review contractor proposals; interface with government/regulatory agencies; monitor project progress and vendor/consultant performance.
- Prepare and present project information to ensure compliance with applicable construction documents and jurisdictional requirements and to meet project objectives.
- Produce or procure detailed design documents.
- Use appropriate resources to produce project drawings, specifications, and permit application packages in accordance with project parameters.
- Coordinate designs.
- Review and approve documents.
- Translate customer requirements into design options with documents and estimates.
- Plan, manage, and execute projects.
- Manage project expenditures within authorized budgets.
- Create, maintain, and communicate project management information.
- Assist in the creation of contract scope.
- Ensure suppliers comply with all contract obligations.
- Offer project alternatives to assure compliance.
- Provide support, as required, to secure permits.
- Prepare scope of services for special inspection, geotechnical evaluation, architectural and engineering services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD (or similar CAD package)
- 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design)
- 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Level 4: 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in Aerospace, Fabrication, or manufacturing environment
