Your impact

We're looking for a highly ambitious and focused Mechanical/Piping Engineering Intern who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our client’s business. As part of our Advanced Facilities team in Portland, OR, you’ll have the chance to work on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients’ challenges locally and worldwide by providing a range of engineering services.

You’ll work with our team of engineers and designers to develop estimates and scopes of work, perform field investigations, interface with clients & vendors, and prepare construction design packages. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in layout and design process and mechanical equipment for various types of niche manufacturing facilities, we’ll grow your expertise as you develop the design criteria for piping specifications, supports, and stress analysis with 3D design software platforms for process equipment and piping, along with various construction deliverables that will bring value to clients.

You’ll also take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you by demonstrating the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team.

Responsibilities
  • Develop estimates and scopes of work for projects.
  • Perform field investigations and interface with clients and vendors.
  • Prepare construction design packages.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in layout and design processes and mechanical equipment for niche manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop design criteria for piping specifications, supports, and stress analysis using 3D design software for process equipment and piping.
  • Prepare construction deliverables that bring value to clients.
  • Progress from basic design work to more complex projects with guidance from a technical team.
Qualifications
  • Participation in the MECOP Program.
  • Current enrollment in a degree-seeking program in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Desire to design building mechanical systems, including HVAC and piping, for buildings and facilities.
  • Familiarity with programs such as AutoCAD, Micro Station, Pipe Flo, Smart Plant, etc.

Ideally you will also have

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Micro Station.
  • Previously relevant mechanical engineering internship experience.
  • 3 years of completed college-level courses (upon start).
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Eligibility to work in the US without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

The base salary range for this position is $40,000.00 to $60,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
