Role Description

The Senior Mechanical R&D Engineer will be responsible for product design and development of mechanical and electro‑mechanical subsystems, including precision assemblies, motion‑control components, and robotic systems. This role involves developing innovative design concepts, performing detailed design, engineering analysis, building and testing prototypes, and supporting verification, validation, and regulatory design control activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a development team to successfully complete complex engineering design.
  • Product design and development, preparation of product specifications, research investigation studies, and report preparation.
  • Summarise, analyse, and draw conclusions from complex test results using valid statistical techniques.
  • Design and prepare reports that clearly and completely communicate results to the technical team.
  • Translate customer needs into product requirements and design specifications.
  • Drive design verification and validation activities for sub‑system and system specifications.
Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 8+ years of related work experience in medical device product development is highly desired
  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical design, mechanics, and materials, and system integration
  • Strong background in mechanism design, actuators, motion systems, and robotics
  • Hands‑on prototyping and test fixture development
  • Experience with Electrical Safety standards (i.e. IEC 60601)
  • Experience with design controls, FDA regulations for medical devices, GMP practices, and QSR requirements is highly desired
  • Experience designing with 3D CAD software, preferably Solid Works
  • Experience in creating complex assemblies and parts
  • Experience with tolerance stack‑ups, GD&T, and precision mechanical design
  • Experience in planning and executing project development plans
  • Familiarity with electromechanical integration, sensors, motors, and embedded systems
  • Work experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
