We are partnering with a global telecoms infrastructure specialist delivering high-performance connectivity solutions across hyperscale, carrier and enterprise environments.
Due to continued growth across the US market, they are now seeking an experienced L2 Field Engineer to lead complex deployment and maintenance activities across critical network and data center infrastructure.
This is a senior, hands-on field role suited to engineers who combine deep technical expertise with leadership capability and strong problem-solving skills.
The RoleAs an L2 Field Engineer, you will:
- Lead field-based deployment and first line maintenance activities
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex network faults
- Support and mentor junior engineers
- Ensure installations meet defined quality and performance standards
- Maintain strict adherence to SLA, safety and compliance requirements
You will operate across live carrier-grade and hyperscale environments where precision, accountability and technical depth are critical.
Key Responsibilities- Provide First Line Maintenance support across a varied customer base
- Lead fault diagnosis and resolution for complex technical issues
- Support new build deployments and commissioning activities
- Perform fiber and copper installations, terminations and testing
- Carry out fusion splicing including ribbon splicing
- Install metalwork, containment and rack & stack services
- Conduct OTDR and Ethernet/OSA testing and analysis
- Oversee 240v AC plug & play and
-48v DC connectivity (no energizing prior to certification) - Supervise internal and external field installation teams
- Define and maintain field quality installation standards
- Conduct quality audits and oversee rectification programs
- Own assigned faults through to resolution
- Produce high-quality project documentation
- Support risk assessments and HSE documentation
- Provide on-call support as required
- Transmission systems (PDH / SDH / DWDM / Optical networks)
- Structured cabling installations to industry standards
- IP WAN / LAN networking and VoIP
- Testing protocols up to 100G environments
- AC/DC power systems and support infrastructure
You should be confident commissioning network infrastructure independently and capable of guiding less experienced engineers.
What We’re Looking For- Extensive hands‑on telecoms infrastructure build experience
- Strong network commissioning background
- Proven ability to resolve complex field issues independently
- Experience mentoring or leading small technical teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
