Project Engineer – Build What Powers the Future
Who We Are:
Renewable Acres is committed to integrating solar power into our national infrastructure, driving sustainable, long‑lasting energy solutions for communities across the country. We are small but mighty, entrepreneurial, and fast‑paced. Based in Portland, Oregon, and offices in Bend, OR, we work collaboratively with our sister development company (Green Key Solar) to drive change by developing utility‑scale renewable energy projects in key growth markets.
We are a team of doers, taking ownership of our work and proactively solving problems to achieve ambitious goals.
Who You Are:
You are a technically minded problem solver who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and loves transforming ideas into reality. You know how to translate complex electrical and site design into field‑friendly execution with a constructability mindset. You are as comfortable reviewing protection and control drawings as you are responding to construction RFIs and being the liaison between the utility and client as it pertains to Interconnection.
You have an eye for detail, a passion for clean energy, and the drive to build systems that work from inception through testing and commissioning.
Your Mission:
As the Project Engineer
, your mission is to safeguard technical integrity, constructability and long‑term performance of every project from design through operation. You will serve as the primary technical review and integrators of engineering work owning the review of all design phases and packages to ensure every design decision is thoroughly evaluated, coordinated, resolved and managed.
This is a highly collaborative role, with influence and oversight across development, engineering, construction, and O&M. You will work across functions and closely with Pre‑Construction Project Managers, Engineers of Records, Independent Engineers, and field teams to translate design intent into executable, field‑ready solutions. In this role, you will proactively identify gaps, risks and inconsistencies across engineering, interconnection, procurements, construction and commissioning, and drive them to resolution.
Beyond review and managing the design process, you will help build the systems, standards, and technical processes that enable scalable execution: improving how we design, build, test, commission, and operate our assets. Your work ensures projects are not only built correctly, but built to perform reliably, safely, and efficiently for decades.

- Work closely with engineers and external SMEs to learn, grow technical expertise, and apply best practices across projects.
- Develop and maintain formal engineering drawing review checklists for each design phase as it pertains to Solar and BESS best engineering standards and practices (30%, 60%/IFP, 90%, IFC), clearly defining review scope and responsibilities.
- Serve as the primary technical reviewer for all drawing sets and engineering disciplines as it pertains to Solar and BESS EPC projects (30%, 60%/IFP, 90%, IFC), coordinating with pre‑construction project managers and engineers to ensure all comments are addressed.
- Coordinate and respond to RFI’s, collaborating with Engineers of Record (EOR) and contractors to resolve design questions quickly.
- Lead and support interconnection and POI coordination with utilities, ensuring engineering drawings are reviewed, approved, and aligned with utility requirements.
- Provide technical guidance for battery storage integration and emerging technologies.
- Perform engineering calculations (e.g., string sizing, load analysis), and ensure compliance with codes, standards (NEC, UL), and permits requirements from the AHJ.
