Your Opportunity

We're looking for interns for our summer 2026 internship program! As an Intern for the West Region Environmental Services Group at Stantec, you can expect to carry out a variety of different tasks related to water resource management projects. You will learn about career offerings within Stantec, what is needed to become a successful consulting engineer with other interns from across the nation.

Every day will allow you to work on an interesting project, while expanding your knowledge as you gain field and office experience in many disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide engineering support for projects involving erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management.

- Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/designer.

- Drafting, computer modeling, data entry, assistance with preparation of construction plans and specifications, quality control review of client construction storm water documentation.

- Assist in the preparation of design concept plans, permit packages, work plans, tables, figures, hydraulic calculations, erosion and sediment control plans, and associated post-construction stormwater management plans, and present information for quality review.

- Assist in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable regulations, codes and engineering standards and practices.

- Complete other engineering/administrative duties as required.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

- Understanding of water and environmental related principles and engineering concepts, including related hydraulics and hydrologic (H&H) principles and concepts.

- The ability to effectively communicate ideas and opinions.

- Be proficient in interpreting sketches, drawings, and other similar material.

- Be conscientious, detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and disciplined.

- Build and maintain productive professional and personal networking relationships within your technical team.

- Relevant office or field experience is a plus. Examples:
Construction Surveying, Field Surveying, Field Sampling, Drafting.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Education and Experience

- Currently pursuing or graduated with a minimum of a four-year Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preference towards students pursuing emphasis areas of Environmental, Agricultural, or Civil Engineering) with a focus on ecological engineering and/or geomorphology preferred.

- Relevant co-op / internships and work experience during school will be considered.
