Your Opportunity
Stantec's multi-disciplinary office on 5th Avenue in NYC has an opportunity for a highly motivated Transportation Engineering Intern/Co-op. This paid internship/co-op position offers full-time or part-time hours during Fall/Winter 2026.
We believe that training, collaboration, and connections are enhanced through in-person interactions with team members. Consequently, this role is predominantly office-based, with minimal remote work expected, if any.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Assist with transportation impact studies, traffic data collection and analysis, report preparation, travel demand modeling, and other technical assignments.
- Gather traffic data from publicly available sources and through field visits.
- Analyze traffic data utilizing Microsoft Excel, Python, MySQL, etc.
- Conduct traffic analyses using HCS, Synchro, and VISSIM.
- Support travel demand model calibration, validation, and scenario analysis in Cube and Trans
CAD. - Provide support to our roadway design and traffic engineering teams.
- Perform additional duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- Interested in transportation planning and engineering
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective team player in fast-paced environments
- Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and visual communication
- Familiarity with Python, C++, or Java; additional programming experience is preferred
- Knowledge of transportation software, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, Cube, and Trans
CAD, is preferred - Interest and experience in travel demand model is a plus.
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, City and Regional Planning, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Economics or a related field. Enrollment in an advanced degree program, such as a master’s or Ph.D., is considered a plus.
$23.47 - $34.50 Hourly
Pay TransparencyIn compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

The benefits information listed above may not apply to union positions because benefits for such positions are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreements.
