The selected candidate will collaborate closely with our national Active Transportation team as part of B&N's strategic initiative to grow the Active Transportation practice.
As part of our Strategic Growth Plan, we're seeking project managers who are passionate about implementing Active Transportation infrastructure across the country. This role will lead preliminary engineering and design efforts for projects such as shared-use paths and trails, complete streets and complex urban corridors, Safe Routes to School, ADA improvements, and national research focused on pedestrian and bicycle safety.
Additional responsibilities include supporting planning and feasibility studies for School Travel Plans, Active Transportation Plans, micromobility initiatives, and related efforts. The successful candidate will also contribute to staff development by mentoring junior team members and provide thought leadership through presentations at conferences and other events.
This role will lead client coordination and marketing efforts-particularly with local agencies and state DOTs. This includes building strong relationships, identifying new opportunities, supporting proposal development, and serving as a trusted advisor throughout project delivery. Strong communication skills and a proactive, client-focused approach are essential to this role.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
- 7+ years' experience
- Micro Station / ORD / AutoCAD experience
- Microsoft Office required
- Prior project management experience is a plus
- Interest and passion for active transportation studies and design; experience is strongly desired but not required - passionate individuals with project management & urban design experience who are willing to learn and grow their active transportation expertise may apply
- Experience with transit integration, manual development a plus
- Proven verbal, presentation, written and interpersonal communication skill required
- Business development experience a plus
