Electrical Project Inspector
Job Description
An established, top-ranked project and cost management consultancy is seeking an Electrical Project Inspector to support major public infrastructure projects, including aviation-related work in the Pacific Northwest. In this high-visibility, field-based role, you will represent the owner's interests in the field and ensure that electrical systems and installations meet contract requirements, applicable codes, and quality standards while collaborating closely with contractors, project management teams, and owner stakeholders.
Responsibilities
+ Perform detailed field inspections of electrical systems, materials, and installations to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable electrical codes.
+ Identify deficiencies, non-conforming work, and potential issues, and coordinate with project leadership to ensure timely resolution.
+ Serve as a liaison between owner representatives, construction management, and contractors to facilitate clear communication and alignment on project goals.
+ Support and oversee quality control testing, inspections, and related documentation to maintain high standards of workmanship and safety.
+ Maintain accurate and comprehensive daily reports, inspection logs, and progress updates to document construction activities and findings.
+ Attend project and coordination meetings to provide updates on construction progress, quality issues, and inspection results.
+ Review and verify contractor quantities and completed work to support monthly pay applications and ensure accurate billing.
+ Ensure proper documentation of all inspection activities, findings, corrective actions, and resolutions in accordance with project and owner requirements.
Essential Skills
+ At least 5 years of experience in electrical inspection, electrical construction, or a closely related field.
+ Strong knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and construction practices.
+ Ability to interpret and work from electrical plans, specifications, and contract documents.
+ Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and standards relevant to public infrastructure projects.
+ Experience working on construction sites and performing field-based inspections.
+ Ability to prepare clear, detailed, and accurate reports, logs, and documentation.
+ Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with owners, contractors, and project management teams.
+ Ability to identify non-conforming work and collaborate with project leadership to resolve issues.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Exposure to public-sector projects such as aviation, transportation, or municipal infrastructure is highly preferred.
+ Certifications such as Certified Electrical Inspector (CEI) or equivalent state licensure are a plus.
+ A degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred but not required.
+ Familiarity with IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) and lean construction methodologies and tools is an advantage.
+ Experience working in an owner's representative or consulting environment is beneficial.
+ Commitment to quality, safety, and collaborative project delivery.
Work Environment
This is a salaried, full-time position structured around a 40-hour workweek with a strong emphasis on work-life balance and predictable scheduling. You will work primarily on site at a Port of Portland office and in the field on active construction projects, interacting directly with contractors, project managers, and owner representatives. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $72.12/hr.
