Location:

Job Type: Full-time

Who Are We?

Anchor QEA is an environmental science and engineering consulting firm that is focused on improving the environment and our communities by solving challenging problems. We employ more than 500 people in offices around the United States. Our vision is for a growing company that is our clients' first choice for solving their most challenging problems and our employees' first choice as a company where they want to work.

We believe engaged staff lead to great client service and to a financially strong company—in that order. Our work environment fosters personal and professional growth for employees by providing autonomy, a clear vision, and the ability to master their skill set.

What's the Opportunity?

Support our growing industrial compliance practice by helping develop, implement, and review regulatory compliance programs for industrial and port facilities. The position supports air quality compliance (e.g., Clean Air Act [CCA] permitting), wastewater and stormwater compliance (e.g., NPDES permits), waste management compliance (e.g., RCRA regulations), and environmental program development (e.g., training and management systems). The successful candidate will also assist with regulatory interpretation, permitting, and agency interactions.

Responsibilities may include:

  • NPDES permit compliance support (wastewater and stormwater), including reviewing/developing SWPPPs/SWPCPs and BMPs, monitoring data review and DMR submittal
  • Pre-treatment permits and wastewater authorizations to city sewer
  • Air quality/CAA compliance evaluations and permitting support (Title V, NSR, PSD, minor source, and NESHAP/MACT), including preparation of air permit applications and permit modifications
  • Hazardous and non-hazardous waste management compliance under RCRA and applicable state regulations, including waste characterization; storage, labeling, and disposal practices; review of manifests/e-manifests; and support for contingency plans, training and reporting

You will coordinate closely with project managers and industrial clients and engage with regulatory agencies as needed. You will serve as a technical lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality environmental documentation and practical compliance strategies. The role also includes developing project scopes, contributing to proposals, and supporting business development efforts.

Responsibilities

The Environmental Compliance Specialist role involves providing technical and regulatory expertise to help our clients comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Key responsibilities include conducting environmental compliance audits, regulatory assessments, permitting support, and developing and assessing environmental management programs across air, water, waste, and chemical regulatory areas.

What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, minimum of five years of experience in environmental compliance, and strong knowledge of regulations like CAA, CWA, and RCRA.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with industrial facilities, manufacturing operations, state regulatory programs, and professional certifications.
  • Key skills include regulatory interpretation, compliance auditing, permitting, technical writing, and project management.
  • Other regulatory compliance knowledge including SPCC, FIFRA, DOT, SARA 311/312/313 and TSCA is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • This role involves both office-based work and site visits at industrial and manufacturing locations.
  • Detail oriented with meticulous site visit note taking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification
