Job Description
A leading design-build mechanical contractor is hiring a Fire Protection Designer II to support its growing Fire Protection division in Portland, OR. This role is ideal for a mid-level designer who has experience with fire sprinkler system layouts and wants to continue developing technical skills within a collaborative team environment. This person will support senior designers and project teams by modifying layouts, assisting with design coordination, and contributing to project deliverables.
The role is highly collaborative and involves working closely with senior designers, engineers, and project teams to ensure systems meet code requirements and project specifications.

- 2–5+ years of experience in fire protection or fire sprinkler system design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- Understanding of fire sprinkler layout and system design principles
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general software tools
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments
- NICET Level II in Water-Based Systems Layout (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Experience with hydraulic calculations
- Exposure to BIM coordination processes
- Experience supporting submittals or construction documentation
