Aviation Maintenance Technician – 97110. Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a skilled technician for its Field team in Portland, Oregon. The role focuses on maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in aircraft operations, including inspection, repair, and documentation of structural and systems work.
Position Responsibilities- Perform production installations, maintenance, preventative maintenance, and alterations on aircraft structures, systems, and sub-systems, including electrical and avionics, for both standard and experimental certificated aircraft.
- Trubblehoot, inspect, test, repair, and service aircraft and engine systems to ensure flight readiness, documenting nonconforming materials or components per specifications and procedures.
- Conduct audits and surveillance of manufacturing and quality assurance processes, including customer/FAA coordination, configuration change verification, conformity inspections, and airworthiness inspections.
- Utilize technical specifications, sketches, manuals, and FAA publications to effectively complete work assignments.
- Maintain company- and FAA-required records and inspection forms while ensuring a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Plan and organize work packages to promote safe and efficient operations, meeting predetermined schedules.
- Operate various information systems, including company web‑based systems and Microsoft Office products, to perform assigned tasks.
- Interpret and adhere to airworthiness directives, service bulletins, and other approved data.
- Apply mathematical calculations to set up and use precision measuring tools for accurate measurements.
- Create production aids as needed to facilitate work assignments.
- Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits for assigned work.
- Exchange information with suppliers, customers, or company representatives to explain or demonstrate operations and tests.
Perform physical tasks including lifting weights ranging from 10–15 lbs to 15–35 lbs, reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting. Work may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants; operating near moving parts, tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards. Adapting to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions. Personal safety gear required.
Basic Qualifications- 3+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance on complex jet‑powered aircraft with military, airline, or certificated repair station background.
- Relevant academic qualifications, military service, or industry experience considered.
- Fall Protection Training completion.
- Current and valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate (specify certificate number).
- 5+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance on complex jet‑powered aircraft.
- Conflict of Interest assessment passed.
- US Person status per 22 C.F.R. § 120.62.
- Export Control compliance.
Pay: $35.32/hour with potential to earn up to $62.45/hour per relevant collective bargaining agreement. Competitive base pay and variable compensation. Work Conditions- Position is 100% onsite in Portland, Oregon; primarily 3rd shift, with possible additional shift requirements.
- Union representation under IAM‑751 W24 Collective Bargaining agreement.
- Safety-sensitive position; DOT random drug and alcohol testing required.
