Position: Mechanical HVAC Engineer (Data Center JP3)

Overview

Jacobs is seeking a Mechanical HVAC Engineer focused on the Data Center market. The role involves designing HVAC systems, performing field investigations, interfacing with clients and vendors, sizing equipment, and preparing construction design packages.

Responsibilities
  • Layout and design HVAC systems for electric vehicles, data centers, and heavy industrial facilities.
  • Develop design criteria for HVAC systems covering general comfort, temperature/humidity control, pressurization, and cleanroom requirements.
  • Prepare conceptual and preliminary design documents, including calculations for sizing/selecting systems, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and general arrangements.
  • Lay out ductwork systems based on P&IDs.
  • Create final design documents, specifications, sequences of operation, piping layouts, and construction documents for chilled water, cooling water, and related systems.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines.
Qualifications
  • 2–4+ years of HVAC system design experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of codes and standards for HVAC design.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Experience leading a mechanical team on a project and collaborating with other discipline team members remotely.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering License.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, and Trane Trace 3D.
  • Experience designing plumbing/utility systems.
