Role Overview
Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (MFA) is seeking a full‑time Environmental Planner who can work flexibly from any of our offices. As an Environmental Planner you will manage diverse projects primarily in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, collaborating with clients and partners across the Pacific Northwest. You will oversee all aspects of project execution from analysis, report and proposal writing to comprehensive project management.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou’ll work on a wide variety of projects, including site development, restoration and infrastructure. Possible day‑to‑day tasks include:
- Assist clients in navigating complex permitting pathways, e.g., waterfront projects.
- Coordinate with agencies on environmental review requirements and facilitate stakeholder discussions.
- Collaborate internally to address wetlands, habitat and land‑use regulation challenges.
- Shape permitting strategies, prepare environmental review documents and permit applications.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and support clients through complex federal, state and local requirements, including NEPA and SEPA processes.
- Build strong relationships with clients, agencies and project partners while mentoring junior staff and contributing to business development, conferences and continued professional growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Natural Resources or related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in environmental planning, permitting or land‑use planning.
- Experience coordinating with regulatory agencies and preparing permit applications.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to prepare and present technical reports.
- Growing knowledge of land use planning principles, environmental regulations and community development strategies.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite; GIS or similar tools a plus.

Salary range: $84,000 to $104,000 per year.
