Senior Design Engineer

Axiom Custom Products is a 75,000 sq ft fabrication shop in NE that serves the creative, events, retail, and construction industries. Axiom leverages its digital manufacturing technologies and fabrication expertise to deliver high‑quality products, taking projects from concept to installation.

We are bolstering our Engineering team and looking for a Design Engineer or Senior Design Engineer. Prior builder, fabricator, tradesperson, or installer experience is preferred.

Design Engineers ensure designs are profitable and within budget. They work with internal teams to understand design criteria, generate detailed Solid Works models and drawings that meet Axiom standards, create accurate bills of materials and parts lists for production orders, and incorporate Axiom’s capabilities into designs. They validate designs for profitability, feasibility, and client requirements, ensure manufacturability without undue challenges, and collaborate with project managers and sales teams to develop proposals.

Materials selection is based on project specifications, industry best practices, and manufacturing constraints.

• Generate accurate Solid Works models and drawings that follow Axiom standards.
• Create and maintain accurate bills of materials and parts lists for production work orders and purchasing.
• Validate designs for profitability, feasibility, and alignment with client requirements.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable and installable considering available resources and logistical conditions.
• Collaborate to refine designs and optimize manufacturing processes.
• Provide technical expertise to guide project managers, account managers, and sales teams.

Required experience includes:

• 1–3+ years of architectural and mechanical drawing understanding.
• Knowledge of manufacturing and finishing processes.
• Familiarity with a wide variety of materials.

Engineers are experienced Solid Works users who can translate napkin sketches or draft models into full assemblies and advise the team on product creation.

• Additional experience: understanding of structural steel design and fabrication and ability to work independently.

Senior engineers perform at the top of their game with over six years of Solid Works experience. They execute designs independently and support team growth.

• Additional experience: understanding of structural steel design and fabrication, ability to work independently, and expert in manufacturing process.

Salary ranges:
Design Engineer $70k–$85k, Senior Design Engineer $85k–$95k.
