Power Delivery Project Manager

WSP is searching for a Power Delivery Project Manager to work from a mutually acceptable location within the United States Pacific time zone, with the ability to travel to WSP or client offices as required.

This Opportunity

Provide high‑level technical project leadership and guidance in managing the administrative, commercial, and technical delivery of assigned HV Substation and Transmission Line projects. Lead projects involving HV substations (115 kV, 230 kV, 345 kV and above), greenfield and brownfield substation design, construction, and upgrades, coordinating civil, structural, electrical, protection & control and commissioning activities. Oversee performance of moderate to large, complex, multi‑discipline projects with regional or utility‑scale scope, including financial performance, technical quality, client satisfaction, safety, schedule and risk management.

Ensure adherence throughout the full project lifecycle—proposal development, project startup, engineering design, procurement, construction support, testing & commissioning, energization and project closeout—compliant with utility standards, NERC, IEEE, IEC, and applicable regulatory requirements. Deliver projects that meet or exceed corporate standards for safety, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), execution excellence, profitability and operational reliability.

Your Impact
  • Provide coordination, administrative, management and analytic support for projects.
  • Coordinate and communicate with all levels of management and disciplines throughout the project life cycle to support project cost and schedule objectives.
  • Oversee project budgets, review costs, provide cash flow forecasts and ensure adherence to planned budgets.
  • Document project deliverables, including correspondence, project changes and project files.
  • Act as the face of WSP for the client, developing long‑term relationships and ensuring consistent communication.
  • Maintain strong client relationships to support future opportunities.
  • Ensure in‑office presence 3+ days a week and periodic site visits.
  • Adhere to proven processes and develop new processes to standardize procedures.
  • Enforce safety regulations and project safety standards.
  • Engage project stakeholders at all levels and report progress.
  • Provide verbal and/or written inputs to multi‑disciplinary project teams and contribute to strategic advice for clients.
  • Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide trusted advisor service and future‑ready solutions for clients.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Physical Sciences, or related field, or equivalent professional experience within an A/E/C firm, utility, EPC, or power delivery consulting environment.
  • 10+ years of post‑education experience.
  • Five (5) years of substation or transmission line physical and electrical design and construction experience.
  • Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • 5+ years in a project management role within the Power Delivery/Utility Industry.
  • Highly proficient understanding of project delivery process within the Power Delivery/Utility industry and strong background in project management.
  • Advanced proficiency with analytical and organizational skills, business acumen to bridge the business and project management.
  • Advanced proficiency with interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively, persuasively and tactfully with leadership, subcontractors and employees at all levels.
  • Excellent self‑leadership with attention to detail, multi‑tasking and adjusting readily to changing priorities.
  • Works independently and provides guidance and leadership to mid‑to‑senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets and PM tools.
