Overview
This position is within Bonneville Power Administration's Power Services, Generation Asset Management, Schedule Planning, Power Generation Support. As a primary technical resource, you will optimize and evolve Plant Information (PI) and Automatic Generation Control (AGC) system displays and analytics to support Hydro operations. Your work will inform critical operational strategies and make a significant impact on the Federal Columbia River Power System.
BasicRequirements
- Physical Scientist: Degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. Or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the above that included at least 24 semester hours in related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- Operations Research Analyst: Degree in operations research or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject‑matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS‑12) in the Federal service, defined as applying mathematical, statistical, or scientific modeling and analysis to complex operational systems such as electrical power grids, water resources, or similar large‑scale infrastructure.
- Analyzing complex datasets to evaluate the impacts of operational alternatives, assess risks associated with uncertainties, and recommend solutions to systemic problems.
Experience includes paid and unpaid work. Volunteer experience through programs such as Peace Corps, Ameri Corps, or community‑based organizations may be considered and will be credited if qualifying.
