Overview
Electrical Engineer – Entry Level, Counterbalance Development Center (CBDC), Portland, Oregon. Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. is a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks and seeks an energetic, innovative engineer to design and implement electrical systems for current and future products.
Responsibilities- Design and develop electrical systems and components for industrial trucks, ensuring performance, durability, and reliability.
- Translate vehicle-level requirements into detailed system and component specifications for new and existing products.
- Test and validate electrical components in laboratory environments and on actual trucks to meet quality standards.
- Analyze and resolve issues with electrical systems through root-cause investigation and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Document designs and evaluations, supporting manufacturing, marketing, and service departments for efficient product delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (recent graduate or limited professional experience).
- Basic understanding of electrical components, circuits, control theory, electric motor drive theory, power electronics, and battery management systems.
- Ability to create system diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with automotive and industrial communication protocols, such as J1939 and CAN.
- Basic skills in drafting, computer-aided design (CAD), design layouts, engineering analysis, and automotive technology.
- Awareness of real-time control networks used for vehicle and industrial machinery.
- Basic knowledge of control system design and architecture, including hardware and software for embedded systems.
- Willingness to operate forklift trucks and receive training as needed.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication, collaboration, adaptability, and detail orientation.
