Position SummaryThe Technical Solutions Engineer serves as the primary technical resource for customer opportunities, supporting projects from initial inquiry through implementation. This role combines product knowledge, problem-solving, project coordination, and customer engagement to develop solutions that align with customer requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
The Solutions Engineer serves as owner of customer opportunity projects. This role partners with prospects and customers to understand business and technical requirements and develop effective solutions. Success is measured by the ability to convert opportunities into profitable business.
Primary Responsibilities Customer Solution Development & Ownership- Lead technical discovery to understand customer applications, pain points, project requirements, and timelines.
- Define what successful projects look like and how customer objectives can be realistically achieved.
- Ask effective questions to develop a complete understanding of customer operational requirements, technical requirements, business priorities, and use environments.
- Develop and recommend label designs, materials, and processes that balance cost, performance, and lead time.
- Maintain ownership of assigned projects and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- Maintain project status and stakeholder alignment throughout the customer journey.
- Coordinate internal resources to support quoting, sampling, testing, and project execution.
- Manage project timelines, action items, and customer commitments.
- Ensure opportunities progress efficiently through internal processes.
- Create quotations and pricing proposals.
- Review jobs, priorities, and builds with Technical Services and Customer Success teams to maintain customer timelines.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins, simplify designs, and reduce manufacturing complexity.
- Assist with pricing reviews and solution optimization initiatives.
- Coordinate sample development and qualification activities.
- Support material evaluations, print testing, compatibility studies, and performance validation.
- Assist with implementation of new products, materials, and technologies.
- Document findings and provide recommendations based on testing results.
- Collaborate with Operations and Manufacturing to ensure solutions are production-ready.
- Support troubleshooting of product, process, and performance-related issues.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and SKU consolidation.
- Assist with development and maintenance of technical documentation.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, materials, printing technologies, and regulatory considerations.
- Contribute to initiatives that improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and solution quality.
- Support development of internal knowledge bases, best practices, and technical resources.
- 2–4 years of experience in technical sales, applications engineering, project management, manufacturing, or related technical environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience working within cross-functional teams.
- Experience with in labeling, packaging, printing, converting, manufacturing, medical device, pharmaceutical, or industrial markets.
- Experience supporting custom-engineered products or customer-specific solutions.
- Knowledge of printing technologies, materials, adhesives, or product qualification processes.
