Primary Responsibilities
HDR's Traffic Engineer will: serve as a project manager or task leader for traffic engineering projects; prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules for traffic engineering projects; prepare plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) documents including signing and striping, traffic signals, illumination, and Intelligent Traffic Systems for various state and local agencies; develop traffic studies that may include traffic impact analyses, corridor studies, access management studies, historic/predictive safety analysis, traffic signal timing plans, microscopic simulation modeling, and macroscopic simulation modeling;
write reports and technical memorandums; coordinate with subconsultants to keep projects on schedule and within budget; complete project quality control reviews and technical detail checks; provide design support during construction; conduct field visits to collect data for scoping or designing projects; direct and mentor junior engineers and technical staff as needed including workload management and technical direction; and participate in recruitment efforts and interview panels.
- A Master's Degree in Civil Engineering and 3 years of experience in traffic engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 5 years of experience in traffic engineering.
- Experience must include: traffic analysis, traffic engineering/design, and construction support; detailed hands-on experience conducting traffic design using Micro Station, AutoCAD, AGi
32, and Guide Sign software; detailed hands-on experience conducting operational analysis using HCS, Synchro, and VISSIM; and Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. - Accepting licensed and unlicensed candidates. Professional Engineer licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.
- Possible travel of 3 days or less within Oregon for project needs once or twice per year.
- Possible travel of 3 days or less within the US or Canada for conferences once per year.
