Guardian Engineering Enterprises, LLC seeks a Civil Engineer to join either our Houston, TX, Chicago, IL, or Brooklyn, NY office. The civil engineer will perform civil engineering assignments to design equipment, components, structures, or systems — with a growing focus on AI infrastructure, data center solutions, site development, and mission-critical facilities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare specifications for project assignments detailing client performance requirements, design codes, and vendor drawing requirements for site development and civil infrastructure systems.
  • Design site development plans for data center campuses and industrial facilities, emphasizing site layout optimization, utility coordination, and infrastructure reliability.
  • Support civil infrastructure design including grading plans, drainage systems, and utility networks for high-performance facilities.
  • Prepare engineering sketches, grading computations, drainage analyses, and design models for data centers and AI infrastructure campuses.
  • Contribute to the design of stormwater management systems and erosion control measures ensuring environmental compliance and site sustainability.
  • Develop specifications for civil construction (earthwork, utilities, roadways, and site improvements) specific to data center and industrial developments.
  • Review vendor drawings for compliance and coordinate with clients, subcontractors, utility companies, and regulatory agencies.
  • Implement sustainable site design practices to optimize development efficiency for data centers and industrial sites.
  • Work within schedule and budget parameters while maintaining company quality standards.
  • Coordinate civil design with topographic surveys, geotechnical investigations, and environmental studies for comprehensive site planning.
  • Comply with all Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) standards and actively participate in hazard identification programs.
  • Support client relationships through professional communication, estimating support, and sharing technical knowledge with team members.
Experience & Skill Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required (Civil preferred); ABET-accredited program preferred.
  • EIT certification preferred; PE license a plus but not required. (2–5 years experience in civil engineering; field experience a plus.)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, and civil design software; proficiency in drainage and grading analysis tools.
  • Exposure to data center site development and infrastructure systems — including site layout planning, utility coordination, and mission-critical facility design.
  • Basic knowledge of site development requirements for technology infrastructure facilities — utility capacity planning, site grading, and enabling civil infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with civil engineering design for roadways, parking, drainage, and utilities in commercial/industrial applications.
  • Understanding of site grading, stormwater management, and environmental compliance with a willingness to learn data center-specific infrastructure planning.
  • Interest in sustainable design, erosion control, and infrastructure reliability concepts for mission-critical facilities.
  • Basic knowledge of civil design codes, environmental regulations, and utility standards.
  • Ability to solve problems under supervision, identify engineering issues, and communicate effectively for clarification.
  • Strong team collaboration, verbal, and written communication skills with effective time management.
  • Experience coordinating civil site design, utility providers, and regulatory agencies for integrated development solutions.
