Senior Structural Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our client's growing design team in Portland, OR. In this role, you will be a key contributor responsible for performing advanced structural analysis and design across a variety of projects. You will collaborate closely with structural leads, engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop design concepts, execute detailed engineering, and ensure structural requirements are accurately reflected in construction documents and 3D models.

This position offers the opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities, either as a Lead Structural Engineer on mid-sized projects or as a Sub-Lead on larger, more complex efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analysis and design with minimal supervision across a range of project types
  • Apply sound engineering judgment in evaluating, selecting, and adapting engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Lead or support lateral system analysis and design (wind and seismic) in accordance with applicable codes
  • Develop structural design concepts and carry them through to detailed execution
  • Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration of structural systems
  • Prepare and review calculations, drawings, and specifications for accuracy and quality
  • Conduct peer reviews and check the work of other engineers
  • Take ownership of assigned work, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations
  • Identify scope changes and communicate proactively with project leadership
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and support
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of workflows, tools, and engineering practices
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (or Canadian P.Eng)
  • Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. building codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC
  • Experience with structural analysis and design software, as well as tools such as Navisworks and Bluebeam
  • Proven experience designing and analyzing steel and concrete structures
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis)
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license
  • Experience with semiconductor, industrial, or advanced manufacturing facilities
  • Prior experience leading project teams or mentoring junior staff
