Structural Engineer
As a Structural Engineer, you will perform calculations for cold-formed steel, steel, and wood building components. You will prepare plans and details to show design intent and ensure all work complies with building codes. You will coordinate plans and details with documents from other trades and attend design meetings with architects, engineers, general contractors, and sub-contractors. Additionally, you will develop a close working relationship with project engineers, project managers, estimators, and the BIM team.
You will also work with the fabrication and manufacturing teams, focusing specifically on cold-formed steel design processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform calculations for cold-formed steel, steel, and wood building components.
- Prepare plans and details to show design intent.
- Ensure work is done in accordance with building codes.
- Coordinate plans and details with documents provided by other trades.
- Attend design meetings with architects, engineers, general contractors, and sub-contractors.
- Develop a close working relationship with project engineers, project managers, estimators, and the BIM team.
- Work with the fabrication and manufacturing teams specifically in cold-formed steel design processes.
Essential Skills
- Structural engineering expertise.
- Proficiency in structural design and calculations.
- Experience with structural steel and steel structure design.
- Ability to use AutoCAD and Revit.
- Experience in civil engineering and concrete work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in structural engineering and design.
- Steel experience is essential.
Work Environment
This position is based in an office environment, working alongside multiple Professional Engineers (PEs). The role is initially full-time in the office for the first six months, with the potential to transition into a hybrid role thereafter. You will work closely with a PE/Mentor who founded the structural department, offering a long-term growth opportunity in a newer department supported by a strong, established company.
You will have the chance to work directly with owners, builders, contractors, and consultants.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $57.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
