Position OverviewThe City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) is seeking an Engineering Analyst to perform critical functions in support of an engineering division, including leading the development and implementation of programmatic and project initiatives and planning, developing and maintaining software tools and databases, supporting standards and practices, performing data analysis, assisting in staffing, resource, and procurement planning, as well as providing general support on division specific projects as assigned.
The position is responsible for developing division tools and processes, producing reports, troubleshooting, and providing training related to resources on a wide variety of capital improvement projects in the City of Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services’ (BES) Sewer, Stormwater & Restoration Division in the Engineering Services Group. BES manages a capital budget that averages approximately $200 million annually. The position works collaboratively with other work units to review processes analyze data and metrics, develop tools, troubleshoot, and provide recommendations.
Whatyou’ll get to do
- Lead and coordinate identification and development of process improvements related to design management, construction management, and other engineering support needs.
- Research, compile, and analyze data and historical trends from a variety of sources including other work units, bureaus, and jurisdictions to assist in benchmarking and to inform decisions. The position is responsible for developing reports, analyzing project scheduling, and financial data and trends. The position also generates reports and analyses for the division manager and supervisors in order to develop and monitor project performance metrics.
- Assist managers and supervisors in forecasting future staffing, resource requests, and contracts and procurement requests.
- Serve as the division software subject matter expert – act as a division liaison and tracker for software issues and planning.
- Coordinate work related to standards and practices development and updates, the division intranet and files, and manage special projects as assigned.
