Senior Piping Designer (CADWorx)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Piping Designer to join our client's team in Portland, OR. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for a highly skilled professional with strong CADWorx experience and a background in industrial piping design. In this role, you will take ownership of design efforts, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to high-quality project execution.
Key Responsibilities- Independently develop and model piping systems using CADWorx
- Lead portions of project scope, ensuring quality and adherence to design standards
- Coordinate closely with engineers and cross-functional teams
- Provide technical input on operability, constructability, and model quality
- Interpret and work from P&IDs, vendor drawings, and engineering documentation
- Support workshare execution and collaborate on project estimating and change management
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and organization of models and drawings
- Associate's degree in Design Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of piping design experience in industrial environments (Oil & Gas, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, or Semiconductor)
- Proficiency in CADWorx, with at least 3 years of recent hands-on experience
- Strong understanding of piping specifications, materials, equipment interfaces, and layout principles
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and technical documentation
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- Strong communication and coordination skills in a multi-discipline environment
- Excellent organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and quality
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related field
- Experience working in semiconductor facilities
- Familiarity with pipe stress considerations and their impact on routing and support design
