Engineering Supervisor​/Engineering Lead

Electro Industries based in Monticello, MN is seeking an Engineering Supervisor / Engineering Lead who is responsible for leading a team of engineers and technical professionals while driving the execution of new product development, sustaining engineering, process improvement, and cross-functional business initiatives. This position provides both technical leadership and project management oversight, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.

The successful candidate serves as a key link between Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Management, translating strategic goals into executable plans and measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop engineers, designers, and technicians.
• Establish priorities and allocate engineering resources to support business objectives.
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
• Conduct performance coaching, goal setting, and talent development activities.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning efforts.

Project Management & Execution

• Develop project plans, schedules, resource requirements, risk assessments, and budgets.
• Manage project scope and prioritize activities to achieve milestones.
• Identify and mitigate project risks to maintain schedule and cost objectives.
• Drive decision-making through data, customer requirements, and business priorities.

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical direction and engineering oversight for product development and sustaining activities.
• Review designs, specifications, test plans, and engineering documentation.
• Support problem solving related to product performance, manufacturability, quality, and customer issues.
• Champion Design for Manufacturing (DFM), reliability, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and company procedures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Service, and Sales teams.
• Lead engineering involvement in change management processes and product lifecycle activities.
• Support continuous improvement programs, root cause investigations, and corrective action initiatives.
• Communicate project status, resource needs, and business impacts to leadership teams.

Process & Continuous Improvement

• Develop and improve engineering processes, workflows, and documentation.
• Drive standardization and project management best practices.
• Utilize metrics and KPIs to measure engineering effectiveness and project success.
• Support implementation of engineering systems and process improvements.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in:
  Engineering Discipline

Experience

• 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.
• 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or project leadership experience.
• Experience managing multiple priorities

Desired Qualifications

• PE license (when applicable).
• PMP Certification or formal Project Management training.
• Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
• Experience with ERP, PLM, and engineering change management processes.
• New Product Development (NPD) experience.
• Experience leading product commercialization efforts.
