Position: Finance Director for Construction: Growth & Ops Leadership

Lovett Services is seeking a strategic, hands‑on, and growth-minded Director of Finance & Accounting to lead the financial operations of a dynamic and expanding organization serving the construction and service industries throughout the Pacific Northwest.

This is more than a traditional accounting leadership role. We are looking for a trusted business partner who can help guide operational and financial decision‑making, improve processes, mentor a high‑performing accounting team, and provide the financial leadership necessary to support continued growth and profitability.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in construction or service‑based accounting environments, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to balance high‑level strategy with day‑to‑day execution.

What You’ll Do Financial Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead all accounting and finance operations across the organization
  • Partner with ownership and executive leadership on strategic financial planning and business decisions
  • Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections
  • Deliver meaningful financial reporting, variance analysis, and operational insights
  • Monitor company financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency
Construction & Service Industry Accounting
  • Oversee Work in Progress (WIP) reporting and job cost accounting
  • Ensure accurate and timely month‑end close and financial reporting
  • Produce monthly financial statements, P&Ls, balance sheets, forecasts, and management reports
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal financial controls
  • Work closely with operations leaders to align project performance with financial outcomes
Cash Flow, Process Improvement & Risk Management
  • Closely manage cash flow and provide recommendations to maintain strong financial health
  • Develop and improve financial processes, reporting tools, and internal controls
  • Coordinate with banks, auditors, tax advisors, and external partners
  • Ensure compliance with financial agreements, reporting requirements, and banking covenants
  • Support long‑term scalability through process development and operational improvements
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, accuracy, and continuous improvement
  • Serve as both a teacher and leader across departments
  • Support cross‑functional communication between finance, operations, and executive leadership
What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience
  • 3+ years in a Director‑level accounting or finance leadership role
  • Experience with in construction, plumbing, mechanical, or service‑based industries strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Construction accounting
    • Work in Progress (WIP) reporting
    • Job costing
    • Cash flow management
    • GAAP accounting
    • Experience leading month‑end close and financial statement preparation
    • Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems
    • Ability to work both strategically and tactically within a growing business environment
    • Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills
    • Self‑directed and highly accountable
    • Comfortable in a fast‑moving, evolving organization
    • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
    • Able to communicate financial concepts clearly to operational teams
    • Collaborative leader who can inspire and develop others
    • Process‑oriented mindset with a continuous improvement approach
