Reporting to the University Controller, the Financial Reporting and Compliance Manager leads and oversees the Financial Reporting team. Responsibilities include general accounting and reconciliation, transaction audit and compliance, fixed‑asset accounting, and vendor maintenance. The role handles a substantial portion of compliance‑based reporting for the university, covering federal, state, and municipal tax requirements and other external data submissions. Under the Controller’s guidance, the manager supports the preparation of annual financial statements and external audit.
The position is a key subject‑matter expert in GAAP and in the development of accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GASB and state administrative requirements. The manager collaborates closely with the Financial Service Center Manager and the Assistant Controller as a member of the University Financial Services leadership team.
Responsibilities- Provide leadership and daily oversight to the Financial Reporting team.
- Ensure compliance‑based reporting for federal, state, and municipal entities.
- Support preparation of annual financial statements and external audit.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert on GAAP and GASB application.
- Collaborate with financial service and assistant controller leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Accounting or related field with transcript or diploma.
- At least five years of progressively responsible professional experience, emphasizing accounting and/or finance.
- At least five years of full‑range supervisory experience, including hiring, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
- Ability to work collaboratively under deadline pressure while maintaining accuracy.
- Extensive computer skills for data interpretation, report compilation, and data processing.
- Ability to research, analyze, and apply laws, rules, regulations, GASB, and GAAP using analytical techniques.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills for cross‑functional team environments.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service with a strong focus on customer support.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting or related field and/or CPA licensure.
- Higher education experience preferred; experience with Banner ERP and fund accounting a plus.

Work Days/HoursMonday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Schedule to be determined.
Total Compensation & BenefitsThe starting annual salary for this position will be between $74,232 and $86,297 and may be negotiated above this range based on experience, skills, and internal equity. Benefits include 95% premium‑paid healthcare, a generous retirement and vacation package, and reduced tuition rates for employees, spouses, or dependents at any Oregon University System school.
