Senior Manager, State & Local Income Tax - Asset Management
Location:
Portland (Negotiable). Senior Manager, 10+ years, Master required.
KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Manager in the State and Local Tax (SALT) practice to lead tax compliance and advisory services for asset management clients across multiple states.
Responsibilities- Provide tax compliance services to partnerships for Asset Management clients.
- Deliver state and local tax services to multi‑state companies, including compliance, advisory, planning, technology, and controversies.
- Assist clients with state and local tax controversies: prepare for auditor discussions, represent at hearings and appeal meetings, prepare protests.
- Research and draft technical memoranda on state and local tax questions.
- Aid in business development, management, and delivery of SALT services; oversee large client projects.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff members and teams.
- Analyze state tax considerations for restructuring projects and intercompany transactions.
- Develop cross‑functional relationships within the firm.
- Minimum five years of recent experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on multi‑state tax issues.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
- Licensed CPA, EA, JD/LLM or MTX, or the ability to obtain one within one year of hire.
- Ability to develop business and foster client relationships.
- Excellent writing, communication, and tax research skills.
- Prior experience in partnership and/or asset management.
- Minimum eight years of recent experience providing tax research and technical advice on multi‑state issues (required).
- Strong knowledge of development, planning, and execution of client delivery.
- Experience with various other state and local taxes.
