The Director of Finance in manufacturing leads all financial operations, bridging the gap between factory-floor metrics and corporate strategy. They oversee cost accounting, inventory valuation, pricing strategies, and supply chain margins, while ensuring liquidity and executive reporting.
Core Responsibilities- Operational & Cost Accounting: Manage cost control, overhead allocation, BOM (Bill of Materials) variance analysis, and standard cost updates.
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Lead global forecasting, budgeting, and performance analytics.
- Commercial & Pricing Strategy: Partner with leadership to model pricing, analyze product-line profitability, and assess margin expansion initiatives.
- Risk & Compliance: Ensure adherence to GAAP, maintain internal controls, and oversee audits.
Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and develop accounting and finance staff.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business; MBA, CPA, or CMA highly preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with significant time in an industrial, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
- Technical
Skills:
Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing cost flows.
