Financial Manager
Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct the search for a Finance Director on behalf of our client, a respected mission-driven nonprofit organization providing critical services and support to individuals and families in Portland, Oregon. This is a full-time, onsite leadership opportunity for an experienced nonprofit finance professional who is passionate about using their expertise to support an impactful organization.
The Finance Director reports to the Executive Director, serves as a member of the senior leadership team, and oversees the organization’s financial and accounting operations. This individual will lead financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, payroll oversight, contract invoicing, compliance, cash management, and investments while providing financial insight to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead the organization’s finance function and supervise the accounting team
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and accounting operations
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain effective financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Coordinate annual audits, tax reporting, payroll oversight, contract invoicing, and other fiscal compliance requirements
- Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to executive leadership, the Board, and Finance Committee
- Partner with senior leadership on financial planning, organizational strategy, and long-term financial sustainability
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA certification, or equivalent education and experience
- 5-10 years of nonprofit finance/accounting experience with strong hands-on financial management expertise
- Demonstrated management and supervisory experience leading accounting or finance teams
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems; MIP experience is a plus
This position offers a competitive annual salary of $99,000–$115,000, depending on experience.
