Federal experience is not required. Experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or through Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR IR-01:
You must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower level within the payband or GS grade in the normal line of progression in the Federal service that demonstrates the required managerial skills and technical competence required to perform the job. To be qualified for this position your experience must include:

  • Experience advocating for clients to effect resolution of tax controversy matters;
  • Experience applying tax laws demonstrated by career experience in accounting, financial or legal management positions or served in a management position that includes tax administrative responsibilities;
  • Experience working with operating policies, procedures, and processes of a large organization;
  • Experience collaborating with multiple organizations or stakeholders to resolve complex issues, negotiate solutions, implement program initiatives, or achieve organizational objectives
  • Experience communicating different tax issues, policies, practices and laws in a variety of situations and different geographic areas, including advocating for a tax position that may be considered contrary to the traditional tax interpretation;
  • Experience evaluating complex issues with consideration for taxpayer rights, organizational objectives, social and economic impacts, congressional interests, and public perception.

You must also meet the following requirements

  • MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Minimum age for federal employment is 18 years old, or at least 16 years old and have:
    • Graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or
    • Completed a formal vocational training program; or
    • Received a statement from school authorities agreeing with your preference for employment rather than continuing your education
