PRN PT Assistant (Healthcare)

  • Treat patients as directed by the Physical Therapist, recording daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per PT Board regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining the department and participate in Patient Care and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
  • Help with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area.
  • Follow physician treatment plans when treating patients.
  • Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides.
  • Communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
  • Participate in in-service training programs for staff.
  • Record treatment changes according to policies and procedures.
  • Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge.
  • Report equipment problems to ensure maintenance of department tools and devices.
  • Maintain positive, effective, and appropriate relationships with patients/residents, families, staff, and colleagues.
  • Supervisory Requirements: This position is not supervisory.
  • Qualifications:
    • Licensed as a Staff Physical Therapy Assistant in the state.
    • Proficient in computer skills, including programs like Casamba and Point Click Care.
    • Ability to read and understand technical procedures, policies, and manuals.
    • Effective communication skills to present information and respond to questions.
    • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
    • Strong reasoning skills to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
    • Maintain licensure in good standing with the state board, meeting continuing education requirements.
  • Physical Demands: Must frequently stand, walk, reach, push/pull, talk, and hear; occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to exert significant force to move objects.
  • Work Environment: Usually low to moderate noise level. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
